Lime Green Comeback

As you've probably seen shopping or just browsing the internet, you know that two things are currently trending: the color lime green & kitten heels. And somehow my mom just knew this would happen, hence why she held on to this get-up that endows both for 20 something years. Sheesh! Not that either really went out of style, but society has allowed them to have their moment again. Welcome back, you two.
Kitten heels are my fave. 1) Because I am 5'10". Though I no longer mind towering over you all in my 3-inch heels as I once did when I was young, some days I am just not in the amazonian mood, ya know? and 2) 'Cause there's something these lil' guys do for even just a pair of Levi's and a t-shirt. It's easy to elevate a casual look with kitten heels. Try it! Oh, and carry an itsy bitsy handbag with the look while you're at it, too.

Some lime green pieces I currently appreciate:

The Line By K Saloma Dress
I Am Gia Naomi Top
Free People Liv Block Heel (not kitten, but still comfy, not too high, and neon!)
Sommer Swim Stella One Piece (wear the cut-out in the front or back!)

Summer In Philly

7/10/2018

I was fortunate enough to spend a month in Philadelphia this summer. I had to live out of a suitcase, which is difficult for a woman who dresses based on her mood... I loathe packing. Probably because my luggage is overweight 90% of the time. Luckily I could cram my shoes and purses in my boyfriends suitcase. Not so sure how I am going to get back to Cincy without paying that overweight fee but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

While in Philly, I met the lovely Khrystyna Ryan. I found her through Insta and reached out and offered to buy her a cup of coffee and chat on creative things! Not only did she reply promptly, she bought me the cup of coffee! And along with coffee and good company, she fed me honest advice and sincere encouragement. She invited me along for a shoot the following day and brought her beautiful cousin along to model for us. We roamed quaint streets of Philly, and I scrambled some outfits together out of my crazy suitcase to style Vladka (These Ukranian beauties with cool names—I think that's a requirement of models these days, no?)

Luckily Vladka and I are similar in size! And she finally made my vintage Gucci scarf-made-shirt come to life! Along with a Reformation denim mini, a thrifted lil' purse, and vintage men's Levi's with a vintage men's Hawaiian button-up from Reunion Clothiers #vintagevintagVINTAGE.

Philly, you've been kind to me thus far. I am falling in love with this city of brotherly love.

Yet another blog post gone unposted... this is last Summer (is anyone still amazed that it's 2018? I am in a daze and still actively have to remind myself that it is in fact no longer 2017). Living in the past clearly, and dreaming of summer... specifically summer in LA. I miss that city so damn much as of late. I miss the heat, the grunge, the diversity. That city just has a certain... crunch to it. Nothin' else like it.

Sporting my mama's vintage Victoria's Secret set, my Grandmother's necklace, and heels stolen from my sister—it's a family affair!  Speaking of family... although I am craving the kookiness that is Hollyweird, I love that I've come from women that were far from boring. My grandma was a gorgeous, sassy broad, and my mom, a timeless babe that continues to inspire me with her outer style and her inner strength, grit, & heart. And then there's my sisters... chicks with too much personality, quirk, spunk, and insane comedic relief. And my 10 year old niece! Little but feverishly mighty—my breath of fresh air! Come over for family dinner, and you'll never be the same. Okay, and then throw in the man that is my father and I think you'll find we're living in our own little Hollyweird right here in Cincy. Their crazy, oddball ways are actually what keep me sane in this small, conservative, cold ass city.

Summer I am ready for you... your warmth, your adventure, your sexiness. Gimme, gimme. Here's to bringing the liveliness of LA to my city of Cincinnati this fine summer (and always). Oh, and hopefully more blog posts!

Wearing a cropped turtleneck and booties with my mom's vintage Bebe trousers. Though drastically different now, (very clubby, Kardashian-esque), Bebe was so damn good back in the day. You'd never believe the pieces I wear of my mom's that are 20+ years old are from that store, given their direction (or lack thereof?) today. While I'm sad I can't benefit from what once seemed to be such a timeless shop, at least I have pieces of my mama's from the 80s/90s—the pinnacle of Bebe.

Wearing my mama's very 80s military jacket with a fitted tee, my Baldwin jeans and pumps. Simple, easy, & sexy yet casual with a little uniqueness thanks to Terry Flanigan (per usual) + a lipstick that coordinates with the shoes and a high pony for the fun of it.

My mom told me that back in the day, girls would buy old menswear jackets (so they'd be big/oversized) from thrift stores and they'd sew in  quirky fabrics under the cuffs so when you rolled up your sleeves you'd see a funky, contrasting pattern. While this is a woman's jacket, it inspires me to do the following:

1) Thrift on the men's side for a change.
2) Find groovy fabric.
3) Learn to like sewing.
